I am often asked, how did I choose Physical Therapy as a profession?

My journey started when I was 20 years old working in a local gym in Tennessee. I was asked by a member of the gym, “What are you going to do with your life?” At that time, all I knew was bodybuilding and powerlifting, so I said: “I am going to be a personal trainer and own a gym someday.” The next statement he said completely rocked my world. He said, “You don’t want to be a personal trainer and live in a smelly gym the rest of your life, you should be a physical therapist!”  I had no idea what a physical therapist was, but I started to do some research and volunteered in hospitals and PT clinics. Needless to say, I was hooked. It made me realize that was exactly what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to help people through the use of exercise and proper movement to return to better physical health. Once in school, I fully understood the bigger opportunity my profession gave me, I wanted to go even farther and integrate the art and science of physical therapy with my passion for exercise and fitness.  That is where Kinetic Sports and Spine Physical Therapy was born in my mind, in a basement gym of my physical therapy school some 23 plus years ago.

It is my passion to blend the best of my physical therapy studies with years of training in the gym to create the best version of you. The goal is simple, to move you along the spectrum from limited movement and in pain, to maximum performance of the activity you would like to do. If it’s getting back to a sport, a particular fitness goal, or just being able to pick up your kids, I have dedicated my life to the science of knowing how to reach those goals in the shortest amount of time.

The next question people ask is “What’s with all those letters after your name?” In my teenage years, I was never an athlete and school wasn’t my favorite pastime, but that all changed when I found my calling in life. I became a collector of knowledge. Some people collect medals, some cars, other stocks, I love to collect letters. Those letters represent various degrees, certifications, and skills I have picked up along the way, that prove that I am invested in your health and well-being.  I may not be the biggest, the strongest, or the fastest person in the room, but I hope to be the smartest because I never want to meet a person I can’t help and the more knowledge I collect, the better equipped I will be to help you!

I hope this short bio will help you understand that I take your pain and your success in treatment very seriously and I am very grateful that you have trusted me and my team to help you in your journey to healing and becoming a better physical version of yourself.
